History of the house

This architectural masterpiece, with its light-colored facade, striking red roof, and charming bay windows, was built in 1912 by the renowned architect Adolf Oberländer. The villa truly breathes history: British writer Dorothea Gerard and the well-known publicist and Freemason Eugen Lennhoff (between 1921 and 1934) were among its illustrious residents. However, the villa's story is particularly rich in Viennese scientific history: Eugen Steinach (1861–1944), a pioneer in hormone research, had his practice here. His research at the Vivarium in the nearby Prater amusement park garnered international attention; he was nominated for the Nobel Prize eleven times. This remarkable history complements the building's architectural charm in a delightful way.

The apartment

Accessible via the elevator, which stops right next to the apartment's entrance door, the apartment boasts the following impressive features: three spacious rooms, each 3.75 meters high and connected by tall double leaf doors, form a classic enfilade (walk through). The wide windows flood the east-facing apartment with light and sunshine. The apartment was partially renovated in 2026 with meticulous attention to detail, carefully preserving its distinctive period character.
